To join Local 506 as a Hazardous Material Worker Apprentice, the following requirements must be met:


Mandatory Requirements:

Minimum 18 years of age


Valid Ontario Driver’s License (G or G2)


Grade 12 Education (Transcripts Required)  
Work Experience (Construction experience a definite asset)  

Other Important Requirements:

* Eagerness to develop new skills and show initiative

* Physically fit with a willingness to work outdoors

* Excellent communication and listening skills

* Ability to work as part of a team, and\or independently

* A strong work ethic and positive attitude

* Well organized, punctual and reliable

Test your Trade Math Skills by printing the attached TRADE MATH WORKBOOK.  Scoring 70% or better means you have a better chance of passing the Assessment TEST when you are contacted.


Having met these requirements, applicants should now:

  1. Submit the on-line application form below. Qualified applicants will be contacted and scheduled for the Assessment Test. 
  2. Successfully complete the practical Assessment Test (Math/Literacy). Top scorers will be invited back for an interview
  3. Complete a one-on-one interview. The final 10-12 participants will be chosen and contacted after this.
  4. Successfully complete a practical (Hands-on) Assessment
